Russo</a> on July 26, 2013. Castro agreed to life in prison without parole, plus 1,000 years. A sentencing hearing on August 1 confirmed this sentence. The deal saved Castro, who agreed to plead guilty to 937 counts, from the possibility of a death sentence. </p><p><br> <b>Michelle Knight</b>, <b>Amanda Berry</b> and <b>Gina DeJesus</b> were kidnapped by Castro in 2002, 2003 and 2004, respectively and were finally rescued in 2013. The women were glad for the plea deal, so that the matter could be resolved without them having to testify at a trial.
