Thomas Robert Francis

Robert Thomas is a principal of Varin Thomas LLC. His practice focuses on both personal and business tax issues, including estate and asset protecting planning, probate, trust administration, tax-exempt entities, choice of entity/business formations, and partnership and corporate tax law. He also represents clients before the Internal Revenue Service and the Idaho State Tax Commission. Prior to joining Varin Thomas LLC, Robert was a partner in the law firm of Hawley Troxell Ennis & Hawley LLP. Robert received his Juris doctor from the University of Idaho College of Law and his LL. M. in Taxation from the University of Washington College of Law. Significant Representations Provides full scope of tax planning, wills, trusts, charitable trusts, family limited partnerships, and irrevocable life insurance trusts; planning for succession of the family or closely-held business entity; administration of both probate and trust estates. Counsels on choice of entity, forming business entities, drafting entity agreements and buy-sell agreements, as well as provides general corporate and partnership tax counsel. Negotiates settlements with the Internal Revenue Service and the Idaho State Tax Commission regarding personal income, business income, and employment taxes.
