Daniel Rodriguez

Focusing his regional practice on general business and commercial litigation, Daniel Rodriguez represents individuals and small-to-midsize businesses that operate in such industries as energy, finance and securities, and real estate, among others. He represents clients in an array of issues and disputes, including lawsuits in the oil and gas, employment, and real estate arenas. Daniel handles litigation involving breach of fiduciary duties, fraud, and/or breach of contract between parties doing business together on opposite ends of a transaction, or as co-owners of a business or non-profit. He also advises clients in oil and gas royalty disputes. In these and other matters, Daniel applies his close attention to detail, which enables him to catch the kinds of nuances that might be overlooked by other lawyers and helps him uncover and use special evidence, arguments, or law that provides a strategic edge for clients. Daniel appreciates the intellectual challenges that come his way in the form of legal conflicts. His academic training in engineering reinforces his excellent cognitive skills and allows him to grasp extremely complex topics, which he then breaks down into understandable terms and concepts for the court and his clients. His acumen also bolsters his ability to point out the gaps in logic in the opposing partys position. A clerkship for the Honorable Judge Andrew Edison of the U. S. District Court of the Southern District of Texas gave Daniel outstanding opportunities to hone his legal research and writing skills. Serving as a clerk also presented him with an up-close, behind-the-scenes look at how judges think and operate, such as their tendency to make decisions based on persuasive documents received long before hearings are held. Having learned this, Daniel places extra effort into crafting excellent, highly developed pleadings, which serves as one way he now leverages the knowledge he gleaned in that position for the benefit of Burford Perry clients. After his clerkship, Daniel joined the law firm of Liskow & Lewis as an associate attorney, where he litigated oil and gas royalty disputes, breach of contract cases including those involving complex offshore leases, disputes over surety agreements, and bonding and collateralization disputes.
