Alan D. Smith

Doug Smith practices in the firms Atlanta office. He received his B. A. cum laude from the University of South Florida in 1988 and his J. D. from the University of Georgia School of Law in 1991. He was a member of his law schools International Champion Phillip C. Jessup Moot Court Team. Since law school, Douglas has practiced primarily in insurance defense, representing insurers and insureds in complex coverage disputes, liquor liability, errors & omissions, trucking, and premises liability claims. He has written and spoken extensively on tort and insurance topics. Doug is a member of the Defense Research Institute and the Georgia Defense Lawyers Association and is licensed to practice in all Georgia state and federal courts and the Eleventh Circuit Court of Appeals. He has received an AV Preeminent Rating from Martindale Hubbell for his high ethical standards and professionalism. Since 2024, he was selected by his peers for inclusion in the Best Lawyers in America in the field of Litigation - Insurance in Atlanta.
