Jennifer Marie Carpenter

Jennifer M. Carpenter is an associate attorney in the firms Merrillville office. She focuses her practice on a broad range of civil litigation defense and has extensive experience handling matters involving premises liability, transportation, construction, and general negligence. Jennifer collaborates closely with her clients on all aspects of litigation, including factual investigation, written and oral discovery, motion practice, settlement and negotiation strategies, and, when necessary, trial. Prior to joining Cassiday, Jennifer worked as an associate at an insurance defense firm, where she defended businesses, individuals, hospitals, and medical providers through all stages of complex civil litigation, including cases involving construction, premises liability, transportation, and general negligence. She achieved success with numerous dispositive motions in both the Northern and Southern District Courts of Indiana. Her areas of interest include premises liability, trucking and commercial transportation defense, dram shop and liquor liability, retail and hospitality defense, catastrophic injury cases, and construction defect and site liability. Jennifer earned her J. D. from Valparaiso University School of Law, graduating magna cum laude. She was a member of the Honors Program, served as a Title IX Representative, held positions on the Honor Board, and assisted law professors as both a research and teaching assistant. Through the Criminal Clinic, she provided pro bono legal services to disadvantaged community members. Jennifer also served as a judicial extern for the Honorable Jon E. DeGuilio and the Honorable Christopher A. Nuechterlein of the United States District Court for the Northern District of Indiana and interned at the United States Sentencing Commission in Washington, D. C. Jennifer set a school record for pro bono service, completing over 425 hours in a two-year period. Ms. Carpenter is an active member of several legal and professional organizations, including the Indiana Bar Association, Lake County Bar Association, Defense Research Institute, Federal Bar Association, and Defense Trial Counsel of Indiana.
