Joseph B. Mayers

For more than 40 years, Joe has successfully litigated hundreds of jury trials, bench trials, and compulsory, contractual, and private arbitrations to verdict in state court, federal court, and alternative dispute resolution forums. He is also an accomplished appellate advocate. Joes focus is in all aspects of insurance defense and personal injury litigation, as well as affirmative lawsuits on behalf of insurance carriers. He has extensive experience in matters involving auto liability, property and casualty insurance fraud, first and third party benefits, bad faith, uninsured and under-insured motorist benefits, property claims, insurance coverage, class actions, products liability, and commercial litigation. He is also routinely called upon by his peers to mediate and/or arbitrate disputes in an ADR forum. Joe has lectured on a variety of topics for many organizations and insurance companies, including the National Insurance Crime Bureau (NICB) and the International Association of Special Investigation Units (IASIU). He is proud of the relationships he has forged with his clients and the reputation he has earned in the courtroom and out for solving his clients most difficult problems. Joe graduated cum laude from the University of Pittsburgh in 1980. He served on the universitys judicial board and was a three-year starter on the varsity tennis team. He received his law degree from Duquesne University in 1983. While at Duquesne, he was a finalist in the schools client counseling competition. Joe served as a law clerk to the Honorable Perry J. Shertz of The Pennsylvania Superior Court in 1983. Joe is a member of the American, Pennsylvania and Montgomery Bar Associations, the Defense Research Institute, The Pennsylvania Defense Institute, Philadelphia Association Defense Council and the Philadelphia Association of Defense Counsel. Joe has been awarded Martindale Hubbells highest AV Preeminent peer review rating, and he has been selected as a Pennsylvania Super Lawyer for nineteen consecutive years, from 2007 to 2025. Joe also served as a Judge Pro Tem in the Montgomery County Court of Common Pleas.
