First chair trial lawyer for national construction client handling dozens of matters in arbitration and court. Defended homebuilder facing over a dozen AAA Arbitration claims against their newly-constructed homes in Center City, Philadelphia, sought under Pennsylvanias Unfair Trade Practices and Consumer Protection Act. Glazer saved the client millions per claimant, as well as establishing a protective precedent. Counsel in a case that resulted in a multimillion dollar verdict on behalf of our client after a two-week jury trial in the Middle District of Pennsylvania. Represented a New York real estate development firm and individual owners in connection with a criminal grand jury investigation, and dozens of civil lawsuits, stemming from a warehouse fire in Philadelphia that resulted in two fatalities, serious injury, and significant property damage. We conducted an extensive investigation into the cause and origin of the fire, which proved crucial to the prosecutors decision to not file criminal charges against our clients. We then focused on the civil lawsuits, which sought damages totaling more than $25 million, and successfully brought all parties to the table to negotiate a master settlement agreement that was favorable to our clients. Conducted numerous internal investigations for large corporations to assist them in identifying employee misconduct in the procurement and banking fields - and counseling them on navigating the path forward. Conducted internal investigation for publicly traded company regarding accounting practices at one of its subsidiaries. Conducted internal investigation for publicly traded company regarding compliance with government contracting requirements. Conducted internal investigation for a publicly traded bank into allegations of mismanagement. Conducted internal investigation for manufacturing company into allegations of theft and embezzlement; discovered perpetrator, obtained full confession, and turned over results of investigation to law enforcement officials, who obtained a guilty plea from the perpetrator. Conducted internal investigation for national services company regarding billing practices and mismanagement of companys resources. Conducted internal investigation for agricultural company into fraud by foreign partner and used that investigation to obtain a $9 million reimbursement from the clients insurance company. Prior to joining the firm, Matthew was an assistant district attorney with the elite Repeat Offenders Unit of the Philadelphia District Attorneys Office. Matthew has investigated and prosecuted major felony crimes including attempted murders, aggravated assaults, drug trafficking, armed robbery along with complex fraud cases.
