Rodney R. Saetrum

brother, husband, father and grandfather. Rodney and l grew up together and learned that each of us was special and different. He was strong, exceptionally intelligent, and loving. He was always there to help and give hugs. He was my best friend. At age 12 he became tired of me being a bully so he taught me a lesson. He looked up at me, pushed me down, smiled and knocked some sense into me. He took control of his life and became the person you all came to know, and l learned humility and how to yell uncle. We were always each other’s best friends and loving brothers. We did everything together. Rod excelled at sports. In the 1960-70 years Rod was doing extreme-sport skiing before it ever became popular on television. He was a football star in high school. Recruited by many top colleges for full scholarships. He turned them down. I asked him why? He said, ”I have cleat marks on my trunk and some of those guys really stink. Rod’s humor was always funny. At least he can now compare stories with Mark Twain. While playing softball he could hit that ball further than most people hit a hardball. We fished and boated most of the summers, and he was always so kind to my two sons. My sons reminded me of things we did together when they were younger than 5 years old. They said that he always smiled. He was very good at reading people and confident in the decisions he made. He was a great and skilled communicator. I really think he could tell someone to go to hell and they would look forward to making the trip. Just joking…. I think.
