Travis Travis Smith, Attorney Travis J. Smith is a founding partner of Smith & Johnson and the elected Murray County Attorney. Travis Experience In law school, Mr. Smith quickly realized that his three passions were legal research, writing, and oral advocacy. These passions led him to focus his practice on appeals. Mr. Smith excels at examining the record, drilling down into the fine details of a legal argument, and weaving the facts and law together to show appellate courts why his clients should win. He has handled over 35 appeals in Minnesotas appellate courts, successfully argued numerous cases before the Minnesota Supreme Court, responded to writs of habeas corpus in federal district court, and authored briefs in opposition to certiorari in the United States Supreme Court. In addition, Mr. Smith has authored or co-authored several amicus briefs on behalf of both the Minnesota County Attorneys Association and the Minnesota State Bar Association Appellate Practice Section and is regularly consulted by other county attorneys offices throughout Minnesota on appellate practice and strategy.
