Meghan is an experienced trial attorney who passionately fights for her clients. She has a proven track record securing positive resolutions for her client in employment, criminal and civil matters. Criminal Defense: Meghan has a passion for indigent defense and proudly serves as a Criminal Justice Act panel attorney representing federal indigent defendants in the Northern District of Georgia. Additionally, Meghan serves as the conflict attorney for the Accountability, Treatment, and Leadership (ATL) Court, the Northern District of Georgias new pretrial diversion program. Employment Defense: From 2015-2023, Meghan served as the lodge attorney/in-house counsel to Fulton County Lodge # 64, Fraternal Order of Police. She continues to represent law enforcement officers in administrative hearings, licensing investigations, and criminal investigations. Meghan has presented classes on employee rights instructing government workers on their due process rights and their Garrity rights. Additionally, Meghan has represented teachers and educators in administrative hearings and criminal defense proceedings. Personal Injury: Meghan represents plaintiffs in personal injury cases ranging from medical malpractice to motor vehicle collisions. She skillfully negotiates with adjusters to get the best settlement possible. When the insurance company is being unreasonable, Meghan is not afraid to file a lawsuit and will take a case all the way to trial to ensure a client receives the compensation and justice they deserve. Background: Meghan has impressive credentials. She earned her Bachelors of Arts at Oberlin College and her Juris Doctor at Georgia State University College of Law, graduating magna cum laude and in the top tenth percentile of her law school class. During law school, Meghan was a member of the Student Trial Lawyers Association (the Mock Trial Team), worked as a legal intern for former Chief Justice Carol W. Hunstein of the Georgia Supreme Court, and served as a Graduate Research Assistant for Professor Russell Covey of the GSU Criminal Law Department. Her excellence and success in law school earned her membership into the Bleckley Inn of Court and a Cali Award for receiving the highest grade in Constitutional Law. In 2016, Meghan was inducted into The Order of the Coif, which is the national honor society of legal education. Its purpose is to recognize those law students who excelled in scholarly achievement during their time in law school and are in the top ten percent of their class. Prior to starting her own firm, she worked as the Assistant Chief Counsel of The Department of Homeland Security, Office of the Principal Legal Advisor. In that role, she appeared as lead counsel in hundreds of proceedings at Stewart Detention Center, including bond hearings, removal proceedings and asylum hearings. Meghan also served as the point of with Citizen and Immigration Services for expedited requests of visa applications. Meghan is licensed to practice law in the Eleventh Circuit Court of Appeals, the Northern District of Georgia, the Georgia Court of Appeals, the Georgia Supreme Court, and all of Georgias county courts. She is also licensed to practice law in California. She handles criminal, personal injury and employment cases. Additional Work: In addition to practicing law, Meghan teaches The Legal and Ethical Analysis of Business Environments to undergraduate business students at the Robinson College of Business, Maurice R.
