Callie Murphy

Education South Texas College of Law, JD University of Houston, American Jurisprudence, BS (with honors) Callie Murphy is a partner in the Houston office. Her litigation practice concentrates primarily on defense litigation for US and London Market insurers across various classes of business, including energy, marine, construction, power generation, private utilities, transportation, aviation, property, hospitality, and professional errors and omissions. Callie represents clients engaged in various aspects of the energy business at all stages of production: upstream, midstream, and downstream, as well as transportation. Her clients include oil companies, operators, drilling contractors, oilfield service companies, refineries, and consultants. She litigates matters ranging from general property and casualty losses to commercial disputes. She also handles claims arising from a variety of marine-related activities, including Jones Act claims, allisions, collisions, and commercial charter agreement disputes. Callie is an eighth-generation Texan. She grew up in the East Texas oilpatches and the Louisiana Atchafalaya River Basin immersed in a world of drilling rigs and workboats. Oilfield work has been a tradition in her family for nearly a century. Generations, from her great-grandfather to her brother, have all earned a living in the oilfields, on the Intracoastal Waterway, and in the Gulf of Mexico. Long before law school, Callie had been exposed to the energy industry at every stage of production. As an attorney, she brings her unique life experience to her work. The lessons shes learned from her familys work in the oilfield have taught her that planning and efficiency are paramount to success in the courtroom. She understands that every case presents unique challenges that require new strategies and solutions. Callies clients know that when she is on their side, they can focus on their future, not their legal issues. In addition to her energy and marine work, Callie litigates construction defect matters, representing engineers, architects, design professionals, general contractors, and subcontractors. Her cases have involved a variety of projects including hospitals, multi-family housing, schools, hotels, sports complexes, and commercial and industrial projects. Callies professional E&O practice includes defending oil and gas consultants, safety professionals, attorneys, insurance brokers, accountants, physicians and other healthcare providers, and healthcare facilities. Callie also provides coverage advice and routinely litigates complex coverage and defense and indemnity disputes. She has experience in virtually every line of insurance, including energy, marine, professional liability, business interruption, automobile, and general liability.
