Jason J. Liss

Biography Jason J. Liss is the managing shareholder of Fabian, Sklar, King & Liss, P. C. He received his undergraduate degree from the University of Michigan and graduated from Wayne State University Law School in 1993. Jason brings over 30 years of experience in helping people and corporations with property insurance matters. Jason specializes in assisting homeowners and business owners whose commercial and homeowners property insurance claims are being investigated or have been denied by their insurers. Jason has extensive experience guiding clients through the claims investigation process, starting with representing insureds during Examinations Under Oath (EUOs) through all stages of litigation including appellate work. He handles a wide range of property loss issues, including understanding and interpreting insurance policies to ensure coverage and maximum monetary recovery for property damage to structures and belongings. The cases Jason handles arise from many causes, including fires, explosions, floods, water damage, storms, etc. He also handles claims for business income and extra expense losses for his commercial clients, and claims for additional living expenses and lost rental income for owners of residential properties. Jason also defends against insurers allegations of arson and fraud. Additionally, Jason represents clients who have suffered uninsured or underinsured losses due to the negligence of their insurance agents. Jason is licensed to practice law in Michigan and Ohio, where he represents insureds in state and federal courts. Jason also routinely litigates cases in state and federal courts outside of Michigan and Ohio on a pro hac vice basis. During his career, Jason has achieved many multimillion-dollar settlements, aggressively litigated more than a thousand cases, conducted dozens of jury trials, and argued appeals before the Michigan Court of Appeals, the Michigan Supreme Court, and the Sixth Circuit Federal Court of Appeals. In his professional capacity, Jason tirelessly advocates for policyholders and other insureds, working to shape property law and legislation in their favor. Jasons professional involvement includes serving as a past chairperson for the Insurance & Indemnity Law Section of the State Bar of Michigan. He is currently a hearing panelist for the State Bar of Michigan Attorney Discipline Board and a committee member for the State Bar of Michigan Character and Fitness Committee. He is also a member of the National Association of Public Insurance Adjusters (NAPIA), the National Association of Fire Investigators (NAFI), the Michigan Association for Justice (MAJ), and the Oakland County Bar Association. Formerly, Jason was a Certified Fire and Explosion Investigator (CFEI) through the National Association of Fire Investigators (NAFI), and was an alternate member of the National Fire Protection Association Technical Committee on Fire Investigator Professional Qualifications, which is responsible for NFPA 1033: Standard for Professional Qualifications for Fire Investigator. Jason is highly regarded in his field, holding a top AV 5.0 out of 5.0 rating by Martindale-Hubbell. He has been consistently recognized in the Michigan Super Lawyers list since 2010, the Best Lawyers in America list since 2015, and the DBusiness Top Lawyers list since 2017.
