Thompson James Beckett

Jim Thompson is a partner in the Tampa office of Lewis Brisbois. Jim is an experienced AV-Rated trial lawyer skilled in all aspects of litigation, arbitration and agency proceedings. Jim has extensive trial experience including acting as lead counsel in over 75 jury trials and numerous non-jury trials. Jim represents businesses and individual defendants in high stakes cases involving accidents and injuries and represents employers in all areas of employment law from the complex to the mundane. As an employment litigator, Jim specializes in claims involving employment discrimination, harassment, retaliation, failure to accommodate, violation of wage and hour laws, and breach of contract under federal and state law. Jim is skilled in the preparation of employment policies and manuals, non-compete and non-disclosure contracts for businesses. Jim also maintains an extensive case load defending complex trucking accident cases and understands what is needed to conduct a successful defense. Jim is accomplished in developing case strategy and in discovery and motion practice and has successfully argued appeals before the US 11th Circuit Court and Floridas 2nd District Court of Appeals. Prior to Lewis Brisbois, Jim managed a small employment law firm which handled all aspects of employment law including litigation, arbitration and prosecuting and defending charges of discrimination with the EEOC/FCHR and the Department of Labor.
