About
Kimberly Carter is a graduate of Hayti High School. She received a Bachelor of Science Degree in Criminal Justice from Southeast Missouri State University in May of 1998. She began her career with Missouri Division of Probation and Parole in July of that year. She left Missouri Probation and Parole in the fall of 2014 to attend law school at University of Memphis, Cecil C. Humphreys School of Law. During law school, she was awarded the Herbert Herff Law Scholarship and served as research assistant to Professor Steve Mulroy and Professor Jodi Wilson. She was awarded the CALI Excellence for the Future Award in Pre-Trial Litigation for the Fall 2016 semester. She received the Certificate in Health Law and graduated cum laude in May 2017. She was admitted to the Missouri Bar in September 2017 and began her legal career as an associate attorney with the Law Office of Shawn D. Young. Kimberly opened her solo practice in Caruthersville in January 2023. She is a 2023 Womens Justice Award Honoree for the General Practitioner category. Kimberly is married to Bill Carter and they have one daughter, Amory. She enjoys spending time with her family and their two dogs, Leo and Max. Her hobbies include running, bike riding, and reading.
