Patrick L. Stein

Patrick Stein is a trial lawyer whose practice is primarily focused on complex business litigation, with an emphasis on representing clients in the energy industry. His clients include oil and gas producers, midstream companies, service companies, wind farm developers, financial institutions, and other businesses. A substantial part of Patricks practice is defending oil and gas companies in class actions and mass actions involving underpayment of royalties, the Oklahoma Production Revenue Standards Act, seismicity (earthquakes), pollution, and various torts. He has defended clients in over two dozen class actions as well as in mass tort actions involving thousands of individual plaintiffs. Patricks experience also includes representing clients in lawsuits involving surface and subsurface trespass, nuisance, oil and gas law, lending fraud, agriculture law, and general commercial disputes. He has tried cases in state and federal courts, handled numerous appeals, and argued before the federal Tenth Circuit Court of Appeals. Prior to joining McAfee & Taft, Patrick started his legal career as a law clerk to the Honorable Joe Heaton, district judge in the U. S. District Court for the Western District of Oklahoma.
