He is a straight shooter and will not make promises he cannot keep. Seeing some of the reviews here and knowing the truth about this man and what has been happening to him at the hands of someone he trusted with everything is hard. Every business owner is vulnerable and needs to take inventory of their cash flow, processes and ensure they are keeping one on one conversations flowing with their clients. It isnt easy to do without staff you can trust. Art has that now and will always be grateful for the people that never doubted his honesty and integrity over the many years he has practiced law. If you need an honest opinion about your situation or have a family law case to discuss he will tell you like it is and give you the most cost effective way to solve it. At one of my hardest moments in life he was able to help me and my family in an unfortunate situation. He is straight forward and will keep you informed of the ins and outs of the court process. He has given me so much advice, and has really pointed me into the right direction. Picking an attorney isnt always easy, but with Art, I have no regrets and am so glad that I was referred to him. We hired him on a new case and communication wasnt flowing like on previous cases. We knew something was not ok. We reached out to him to finally got a hold of him and we found out some things that had happened to him. We understood and even that our last case didnt go as expected we still stand by him. We can count on him as an attorney and we consider him a friend. We are all humans and make mistakes, but it takes courage and strength to admit your wrong doings and correct them. Bellaire, TX0170 Mar 15, 2020 Updated review I used Art at a very turbulent time, when I didnt have the time to do much research. WHAT. A. MISTAKE. I soon learned he was bad when I had to PAY HIM $500 to do the exit paperwork to FIRE HIM. But now, 4 years and 3 lawyers later (Ive moved), it has been confirmed many times over what a P. O. S. lawyer this guy is. So many holes in my document, so rude when I was asking and needing help and clarification, CHARGING ME to fire him!!!??. Cant honestly believe hes still in business. Oh man where do I start? I could not recommend this person less. For 1, he has absolutely HORRIBLE communication skills. I hired Mr. Guzman a year ago to help me file a divorce on my husband, which easy enough as it should have been, I am STILL not divorced. Since I did not have time to research my options, I ended up at Arts office due to a friends suggestion, big, ... HUGE MISTAKE! Art does things on his terms, as he wants/thinks they should be done, without consulting his clients, then charges you, the client for his work, like it or not. He exacerbated situations then charged me for it, ultimately leaving me to duke things out with my ex anyway. Upon our first mediation agreement, Art was going to assist me in getting my belongings back. When he found out what they were, he changed him mind. When I did not agree to his draft of my decree, a very *HALF ASSed JOB* in itself, I emailed him directly letting him know my concerns. He replied in a VERY UNPROFESSIONAL, defensive, pompous manner, not apologizing for anything. I had to email him for at least a month/+ before sending him a CERTIFIED LETTER letting him know I was serious and wanted to speak with him directly about my decree. He, again, was RUDE AND CONFRONTATIONAL on the phone when I finally got him on it and refused to make corrections I requested, ... and charging me for his time. At last, when I finally decided to fire him, I again sent him a months/+ worth of emails and phone calls asking him to remove himself from my case, for my $500 retainer and my documents returned. I received an email reply that he was working on things, but still no apology for his lack of communication, my reason for dismissal. Ive heard nothing more, seen no other actions taken and no further messages responded to. Since hes now avoiding me again, I have sent yet a SECOND CERTIFIED LETTER. I have not received any communication or documents. He is charging me to fire him! Just so you know, I NEVER write reviews but Mr. Guzman has made such a SHIT SHOW of an already very stressful life event which has costed me an (unnecessary) pretty penny. Tybee Island, GA0120 Oct 7, 2019 Anyone seeking a Divorce should stay away from this Attorney Mr. Guzman only takes your money and does nothing and will charge you $500.00 to get your records when you get enough of him and fire his sorry A** I had to hire another attorney to file the paperwork with the courts after waiting for Mr. Guzman to do what I paid him for.
