SALUTE! Tom Kaletta from Kirkwood, Missouri, wrote on Jul. 13, 2023 I had the good fortune to cross paths with Eric Evans almost two years ago. I can remember the first time as if it was last week. At the behest of his good friend Bob Strait, he dropped by our fourth-floor Monday evening poker game at the Missouri Athletic Club in St. Louis to say hello. With an unmistakable gleam in the look of his eyes and a 24-carat smile, he immediately captured the attention of everyone. Jeez Louise I thought to myself, I hope that this fellow will decide to be a regular player so we can get to know him. My wish came to pass, and Eric did join our table group the following week. After that, none of us ever looked back. He was salty, bawdy, witty, pungent, and oh so funny. Every game he played with us was an adventure unto itself. When he won a hand, that smile broke broad as he would gingerly scoop up the chips and stack them in his corner. If he went for the gold and came up empty, losing to one of us with a better call, his first words would be... Nice hand my friend. You deserved that Eric would always think of others, and he used the phrase MY FRIEND often. ERIC my friend, you are going to be missed.
