Kent E. Altom

Mr. Altom, originally from North Carolina, has called six southeastern states home over the years. He earned his Bachelor of Science in Business Administration (Management) from Samford University. Before diving into law, he pursued two graduate degrees-one in theology and another in ethics, graduating magna cum laude from Emory University. Mr. Altom received his JD from Cumberland School of Law, where he distinguished himself as a member of The Order of Barristers for Trial Advocacy, a Cordell Hull Teaching Fellow for Legal Research and Writing, and a recipient of the American Bankruptcy Institutes Medal of Excellence. After law school, Mr. Altom clerked for two years with the Honorable Thomas B. Bennett of the United States Bankruptcy Court for the Northern District of Alabama. Today, he is a highly regarded attorney, holding a Martindale-Hubbell AV Preeminent Peer Review Rating. He actively participates in the State Bar of Georgia, serving on its Board of Governors and the Executive Committee of the Real Property Law Section. Additionally, he is a member of the Lawyers Club of Atlanta. Beyond his practice at The Gilroy Firm, Mr. Altom teaches business law at Kennesaw State Universitys Coles College of Business, having previously taught at the University of North Georgias Mike Cottrell College of Business. His practice focuses entirely on litigation, specializing in creditors rights, residential and commercial real estate, and bankruptcy. He is licensed to practice in all federal and state trial and appellate courts in Georgia and Alabama.
