Cana Dunlap Cana Dunlap Photography Mr. and Mrs. James Witte Bull Jr. of Holly Hill are pleased to announce the engagement of their daughter, Bonnie Elizabeth Betsy Bull, to Charles Cody Tirpak, son of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Peter Tirpak Jr. of Spartanburg. The bride-elect, a resident of Anchorage, Alaska, is the granddaughter of the late James Witte Bull Sr. and Mrs. Bonnie Murray Bull of Holly Hill and the late Mr. Burke Cook and Mrs. Janice Cook of Adams Run. A graduate of Holly Hill Academy, she earned a bachelors degree from the University of South Carolina and her Juris Doctor from the University of South Carolina School of Law. She is employed with the Anchorage District Attorneys Office for the State of Alaska as assistant district attorney. The bridegroom-elect, a resident of Anchorage, is the grandson of Mr. Charles Peter Tirpak Sr. of Landrum, Ms. Sylvia Tirpak of Charleston, and the late Mr. Henry Carr and Mrs. Maxine Carr of Cowpens. A graduate of Spartanburg High School, he earned a bachelors degree from Clemson University and a Juris Doctor from the University of South Carolina School of Law. He is employed with Jermain, Dunnagan & Owens, P. C., as an associate. The couple plan a June wedding in Girdwood, Alaska. Betsy Bull and Cody Tirpak. Q: When did you know your fiance was the one?A: Betsy and Cody both clerked for Superior Court judges in Anchorage, Alaska, and fell in love with Alaska and each other over the course of their yearlong clerkships. Q: Tell us about the proposal. A: Betsy and Cody spent the day ice climbing in minus-10-degree weather and went to the Alyeska Resort, where the wedding will take place, to warm up and enjoy dinner. Cody proposed at Alyeska, where they go downhill skiing every weekend in the winter.
