About

About me Edward Lopez, Jr. is a capital partner in the Dallas office of Linebarger Goggan Blair & Sampson, LLP. He is a graduate of Texas State University and earned his B. B. A. in Finance in 1987. He attended law school in Dallas at Southern Methodist University School of Law and graduated in 1990. While at SMU, he was a member of the National Mock Trial and National Moot Court teams. He earned recognition for his mock trial/moot court work. Mr. Lopez is licensed to practice in all state courts and the federal courts for the Northern, Eastern and Southern Districts of Texas. He is also licensed to appear before the Fifth Circuit of Appeals. For over 25 years, Mr. Lopez has been a staple in and around North Texas courts. In addition, he has been active in attending and contributing financially to various charities, organizations and events. These include the Collin County Republican Mens Club, Prestonwood Christian Academy, Prestonwood Pregnancy Center and others. Mr. Lopez serves on the Legal Standards and Legislative Committees for Linebarger Goggan and shares the responsibility of guiding the law firm and its employees through the constant changes in the legal/legislative environment. In addition, he is a frequent speaker\presenter at various conferences in Texas including, Texas A&M, VG Young Institute, TAAO, TML, and TASB. He also serves on the planning committee for the Texas A&M Real Estate Center and previously served as chairperson for Government Relations with TAAO. He is the current vice-president for NAHCO (affiliated with NACO) and served on the chamber of commerce in Grand Prairie, Texas from 2010-2014. In addition, Mr. Lopez authored Chapter 24 of the Texas Foreclosure Manual, 3rd Edition (2014). Over the past 20 years, Mr. Lopez was the lead appellate attorney for over 20 cases presented to various courts of appeal in Texas and in federal court. The cases he has handled have established a number of legal principles benefiting taxing authorities throughout Texas.
