He represents corporate and institutional clients in a range of litigation matters in state and federal courts, with an emphasis on representation of doctors, nurses, hospitals, chiropractors, nursing homes, long-term care facilities, and healthcare entities in medical malpractice matters, and he is well versed in HIPAA compliance and regulations. He also represents clients in products and general liability matters, including claims against commercial motor vehicle operators, and employment-related litigation. Mr. Allen also has experience representing insurers and corporate clients in complex, high level pharmaceutical and mass tort litigation. He has served as special counsel in public nuisance opioid litigation involving manufacturers and distributors and has worked on mass tort matters arising from pharmaceutical compounding and other drug- and device-related litigation, including multidistrict proceedings. His experience includes strategic coordination with nationally recognized medical and scientific experts in opioid and pain management matters. Mr. Allen has significant experience defending educational institutions during investigations by the U. S. Department of Education and U. S. Department of Justice, in administrative proceedings before the Pennsylvania Human Relations Commission, Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, and New Jersey Division on Civil Rights, and in state and federal courts in cases involving a wide array of discrimination claims. He has also represented government employers facing complaints alleging civil rights violations under Section 1983 and in litigation involving an array of First Amendment claims. In 2010, Mr. Allen was awarded the distinguished Fulbright Scholarship from the U. S. Department of State. He spent the next year in Egypt and the United Arab Emirates learning Arabic and Persian Farsi, studying comparative constitutionalism, and working with the Emirati government on practical issues regarding federalism and jurisdictional issues in local and federal courts. During law school, Mr. Allen served as a two-term judicial intern to the Honorable James J. Fitzgerald III of the Superior Court of Pennsylvania.
