Aleena Y. Sorathia

Aleena Sorathia, Esquire Member Aleena Sorathia is a Member of the Litigation and Labor & Employment groups of Ahmad Zaffarese LLC. Aleenas practice focuses on representing government entities in civil litigation, labor, and employment matters. During her time at Ahmad Zaffarese, Aleena has represented clients in matters involving the Political Subdivision Tort Claims Act, the Sovereign Immunity Act, Title VII, the Americans with Disabilities Act, the Family Medical Leave Act, and the Pennsylvania Human Relations Act. Aleena has also aided clients in matters related to §1983, Bivens, and the Motor Vehicle Financial Responsibility Law. Additionally, she has represented clients in connection with Act 111 and Act 195 arbitration matters, and grievance arbitrations. Prior to joining Ahmad Zaffarese LLC, Aleena was a Judicial Law Clerk in the Philadelphia Court of Common Pleas for the Honorable Judge Albert John Snite, Jr., where she garnered valuable experience in pre-trial and trial practice. Outside of work, Aleena is dedicated to serving the Greater Philadelphia community. She serves as a Commissioner on the Pennsylvania Human Relations Commission. The Commission enforces state laws that prohibit discrimination, including the Pennsylvania Human Relations Act, which prohibits discrimination in employment, housing, commercial property, education, and public accommodations. As one of eleven commissioners, Aleena acts a public liaison, establishes policies, and resolves complaints of discrimination. On June 18, 2018, the Pennsylvania Senate confirmed her appointment to the Commission. Aleena sits on the Board of Directors of the Asian Pacific American Bar Association of Pennsylvania (APABA-PA), and the Minority Alumni Society of Villanova University Charles Widger School of Law (MAS). She also co-chairs the Philadelphia Bar Associations Womens Rights Committee. Additionally, Aleena is passionate about mentoring and participates in MAS & APABA-PAs mentoring programs to guide young law students in their professional development.
