About
Ryan Smith represents individuals, labor organizations and employee benefit plans. Ryan joined Arnold, Newbold, Sollars & Hollins, P. C. in 2019. Prior to joining the Firm, he practiced law in a variety of settings. He previously served as Senior Counsel with the Missouri Office of the Public Counsel where he advocated for just and reasonable utility rates on behalf of customers before the Missouri Public Service Commission. Before that position, Ryan worked in former Missouri Secretary of State Jason Kanders office in the Securities Division where he protected investors by enforcing state securities laws. Ryan graduated from the UMKC School of Law in 2013 following in the footsteps of his great grandpa who graduated from the UMKC School of Law (f/k/a, the Kansas City School of Law) alongside classmate Harry S. Truman. In law school, Ryan interned at private firms as well as for the government including at the U. S. Attorneys Office and with U. S. Magistrate Judge Robert E. Larsen. Before entering law school, Ryan received an undergraduate degree in 2009 from St. Louis University where he majored in economics and minored in philosophy. Ryan is a member of the Missouri bar, and he is licensed to practice law in Missouris state courts as well as before the U. S. District Court for the Western District of Missouri.
