J. Michael McGarity

J. Michael McGarity is the founder of McGarity & Efstration, LLC, a law firm in Buford, Georgia. A highly experienced trial lawyer, Mr. McGarity focuses his practice on personal injury law, representing clients in Buford and throughout Gwinnett County, Georgia, who have been injured in accidents. Mr. McGarity graduated from the Georgia Institute of Technology and earned his law degree from the University of Georgia School of Law. He is licensed to practice in the state of Georgia, and is also admitted to practice before the U. S. District Court for the Northern District of Georgia, the U. S. Court of Appeals for the 11th Circuit, the Court of Appeals of Georgia and the Supreme Court of Georgia. A former prosecutor for the Gwinnett County District Attorneys office, Mr. McGarity has taken hundreds of cases to trial over the course of his career. He was also appointed as a Special Master of the Supreme Court of Georgia in disciplinary hearings. After entering private practice, he worked on complex litigation cases with two Georgia law firms before founding his own firm. Professional organizations that Mr. McGarity belongs to include the Gwinnett County Bar Association, the Atlanta Bar Association, the Lawyers Club of Atlanta, the State Bar of Georgia, the American Association for Justice and the Litigation Counsel of America. He is vice president of the Georgia Trial Lawyers Association and is a member of the Multi-Million Dollar Advocates Forum, an organization composed of lawyers who have recovered verdicts or settlements of $2 million or more for their clients. Actively involved in his local community, Mr. McGarity is a member of the Gwinnett Chamber Executive Committee and Board and the Rotary Club of Gwinnett County. He is also the chairman of the Gwinnett Environmental and Heritage Center.
