Joseph Diemert

Joseph W. Diemert, Jr. Esq. Joseph Diemert maintains a litigation and appellate practice as well as a commercial real estate and corporate law practice. He has represented individuals and all forms of entities in numerous multimillion-dollar transactions. He has litigated landlord/tenant and real estate matters through the Supreme Court and won multimillion-dollar verdicts with successes resulting in statewide landmark precedents. In recent years, he has handled over $100,000,000 of business and real estate transactions. Joe has served as legal counsel for numerous political subdivisions and officials, being well-respected in all aspects of municipal law including public employee law, zoning, safety services, building and development. He has provided representation to numerous area safety force organizations including the Northern Ohio Firefighters Association, the Cleveland Firefighters union and dozens of other local firefighter unions and Fraternal Orders of Police, including the Ohio FOP. On behalf of these employee organizations, Mr. Diemert has presented arguments before and obtained favorable decisions from all levels of courts, including the Ohio Supreme Court. He has also testified before the Ohio General Assembly on issues relating to municipal government and public employees. Mr. Diemert was instrumental in seminal public sector cases involving the Public Employee Collective Bargaining Act, privacy rights and the recent statewide prohibition on municipal employee residency requirements. Joe is a native of the Greater Cleveland area and a graduate of the University of Notre Dame with honors, Georgetown University Law School, and Cathedral Latin High School. He taught high school and junior college and served in the U. S. Department of Justice as legal advisor. During his time at Georgetown, Joes studies focused on real estate law, contracts, business and corporate law, litigation and appellate law, constitutional, municipal, and public employee labor law.
