He received a Bachelor of Science Degree in Accounting from Case Western Reserve University in 1988 and was graduated from St. Ignatius High School in 1984. He was admitted to the bar in Ohio in May of 1992 and is also admitted to practice law before the United States District Court for the Northern District of Ohio. He serves clients in the areas of personal injury, commercial and government collections, creditors rights, estate planning, wills, trusts, administration of probate matters, as well as commercial litigation cases. Prior to joining Douglass & Associates Co., L. P. A. in 1997, Mr. Berney was an associate in a general practice firm. His responsibilities included general corporate practice, bankruptcy, estate planning, probate administration, personal injury, and civil litigation. He has previously served as the Assistant Law Director and Prosecutor for the City of Seven Hills where he successfully argued before the Cuyahoga County Court of Appeals and the Ohio Supreme Court in the areas of first amendment rights and municipal law. Mr. Berney utilized his undergraduate degree in accounting as an Accounting Manager for COSE/Group Services of the Greater Cleveland Growth Association prior to attending law school. Mr. Berney is a member of the Cleveland and Ohio State Bar Associations, the Irish Public Affairs Council (IPAC), the West-Side Irish American Club, and the Cleveland Fraternal Order of Police Associates Lodge 22.
