My Biography Other Attorneys Trent Shelton Attorney Trent Shelton joined Arnold & Itkin after law school in 2020 and didnt waste any time getting acclimated to the practice of law. The day after learning of his passing results for the Texas bar, Trent was in the courtroom seeking justice for clients who had been seriously injured due to the actions of others. Just three days into that first trial, the defendants decided to settle the case for policy limits of $1 million. Since then, Trent has tried several cases to juries all over the country and has obtained numerous verdicts and settlements on behalf of his clients. You will not find many lawyers Trents age who have tried more cases than him. In just three years as a lawyer, Trent has obtained over $80 million in verdicts and settlements as lead counsel. In 2023, Trent obtained a $33 million verdict on a burn case where the defendants essentially offered minimal amounts to settle the case pretrial. In another case, he obtained a verdict of $1.9 million in a multi-defendant bus crash case. He also settled cases worth $9 million, $5.2 million, and 3.5 million in the same year. In 2022, after 30 depositions, he obtained a $9.5 million settlement on behalf of an injured West Texas oil field worker. In the same year, he took on a worldwide company with cases pending nationwide due to a defective baby product put out on the market. After taking many depositions and defeating numerous motions filed by the Defendant in federal court, he was able to obtain a favorable settlement on behalf of a family who lost their 5-month-old daughter due to the product. His results have caused him to receive many recognitions, including being named on the Best Lawyers: Ones to Watch for 2023 and 2024. Trent grew up in the small Northeast Texas town of Hughes Springs. He attended Oral Roberts University, where he studied business and played baseball—a sport he credits with teaching him many important life lessons. His time as an athlete found him appearing in two NCAA Division I Arkansas and TCU regional tournaments. After earning his undergraduate degree with honors from Oral Roberts University, Trent attended Baylor Law School. Here, he graduated Magna Cum Laude and at the top of his class. While studying law, Trent competed on Baylors national moot court team. He also served as an associate editor of the Baylor Law Review and was a member of the Order of the Barristers. His academic accomplishments include receiving top grades in numerous courses, most notably Practice Court III, one of the three courses in Baylors rigorous Practice Court program. While Trent is licensed in Texas and Louisiana, his practice is not limited to those states. He appears in state and federal courts all over the country for his clients.
