Matthew (Matt) Lopez is a personal injury attorney and the manager of our El Paso office. Matt is focused on representing people, and their families, who have suffered catastrophic injuries or death. His experience includes serious and catastrophic injury cases such as car, motorcycle and 18-wheeler truck wreck cases, dog-bite cases and on-the-job injuries. As the managing attorney in El Paso, Matt is passionate about representing people who have been seriously injured. He strives to always put the client first and knows the invaluable importance of client relationships. As a testament to the work of the firm and the leadership of Matt in El Paso, the firm has been selected as the Best Law Firm in The City Magazines Best of the City continuously since 2018. The firm was also recognized as Best Law Firm in the 2022 Best of the Border contest by the readers of El Paso Times. Matt earned his law degree from Texas Tech University in 2010. Before attending law school, he earned a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from Texas Tech University in 2006, graduating Summa Cum Laude. Matt began working for GVILAW during law school, joined full-time upon becoming a licensed Texas attorney in 2010 and rapidly advanced to the managing El Paso office attorney. While in law school he served on the executive board of the Hispanic Law Students Society and founded a national moot court team to compete annually at the United States Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit in New Orleans, Louisiana. Matt began clerking with the firm after his second year of law school. After taking the bar exam, he immediately joined the firm and began representing personal injury clients. In August 2022, Matt was promoted to a Partner of GVILAW. Matt is not only dedicated to his work, but also to giving back to his community. He actively volunteers with the Abundant Church to help those in need during the holidays. Additionally, he has been supporting the Childrens Grief Centers fundraising efforts for the past seven years by personal donations, and by volunteering for their annual 5K race and participating in their annual auction. Furthermore, he sponsors two young children he previously represented who are now in foster care as their Secret Santa, making sure they have a special holiday season. Matts commitment to the community is a testament to his compassion and dedication to improving the lives of those around him. Education J. D., Texas Tech University School of Law (2010) B.
