Client Success Story A property insurance case that stands out in my mind is of a well-to-do couple who filed a burglary claim with a major insurance company after their home was broken into. The claim involved a significant amount of stolen property, including valuable Rolexes. Unfortunately, the insurer denied the claim, accusing the homeowners of staging the burglary. This accusation left the couple devastated, not only for the loss of their belongings but also for the implication of wrongdoing. I faced an uphill battle. Insurance companies often view fire and burglary claims with suspicion, and the insurers Special Investigative Unit (SIU) concluded the burglary was staged based on speculation and questionable inferences. I knew I had to dismantle their arguments and expose the lack of evidence for fraud. I meticulously scrutinized the case file, reviewing examinations under oath, claims notes, and the list of stolen property. I then deposed the insurers adjuster and SIU investigator, methodically dissecting their reasoning for fraud allegations. Through skillful questioning, I exposed the inconsistencies and unfounded assumptions underlying their accusations. Their whole position was nonsense! My prior experience working as an attorney who defended insurance companies SIU claims proved invaluable.
