George Nicholas Longworth

George N. Longworth, co-founder of Grant & Longworth, LLP, has practiced law in Westchester County since 2002 with a focus on personal injury law and criminal defense. Known for being extremely accessible to his clients, Longworth thoroughly engages himself in even the smallest of details with regard to every client’s case. Mr. Longworth is a veteran of law enforcement. His police career began in 1982, with the Dobbs Ferry Police Department. Longworth quickly rose through the ranks, being named chief of police ten years later. At the time, he was the youngest person (32) ever to be named chief of a Westchester County police department. Highly respected among his peers, Mr. Longworth was elected president of the Westchester County Chiefs of Police Association in 2000. Longworth enrolled in the Pace University School of Law in 1998 and graduated in 2001. In 2007, George N. Longworth retired from law enforcement and joined with Steven P. Grant to form Westchester personal injury law firm Grant & Longworth, LLP. He represented a wide variety of personal injury clients clients including public safety personnel injured during the atrocities of September 11, 2001. In January 2010, Longworth accepted the call to public service once again, when he was appointed as commissioner of the Westchester County Police Department by County Executive Robert P. Astorino. He led the Westchester County Police in to an era of providing expanded services to local municipalities, including the provision of contracted municipal policing and unified in-service training. In January 2018, Longworth returned to the firm after retiring from public service for the final time. He successfully represents a broad range of clients in all aspects of personal injury and criminal defense law. Additionally, his representation includes the development and implementation of litigation, discovery, settlement and trial strategies. Longworth earned a bachelor of arts degree in criminal justice from Mercy College and a juris doctorate from Pace University. He is admitted to practice in both New York and Connecticut. Longworth is also a graduate of the prestigious FBI National Academy in Quantico, VA. A strong advocate of education, he serves as an adjunct professor of criminal law and forensic science as his time allows.
