James Thompson Partner After a large verdict several years ago that was reported in the Kansas City Star, my daughter asked if I was happy that I had won, I told her yes, but I was more grateful that I was able to make a difference in the life of a family that had suffered through so much. The thing is, I love being a trial lawyer, it is a gift I have been given. I was told long ago by my father, that to whom much is given, much is expected. What is expected of me is to believe in my heart that I can make a difference in cases and thus in peoples lives. James has obtained multiple multi-million-dollar verdicts through trial and has negotiated many more million-dollar-plus settlements for his clients. James received his undergraduate and law degrees from the University of North Dakota, graduating with honors from the law school in 1987. Since that time, he has practiced exclusively in the area of personal injury, with an emphasis on serious truck and auto accidents, and product liability. James has litigated hundreds of cases in state and federal courts in Kansas and Missouri, as well as throughout the United States. He is a member of the Million Dollar Advocates Forum and also the Multi-Million Dollar Advocates Forum, in which membership is limited to attorneys who have achieved million and multi-million-dollar verdicts and settlements. James is also a member of the Association of Interstate Trucking Lawyers of America, an organization dedicated to making our roads safer for everyone. He is a member of the Missouri Bar, the U. S. Supreme Court Bar, the Federal Court Bars in Kansas and Missouri, the American Association for Justice (AAJ), the Missouri Association of Trial Attorneys (MATA), and the Kansas City Bar Association.
