Joseph Burtner

Serving businesses in a wide range of industries, Joseph Joey Burtner represents clients in commercial and civil litigation disputes involving contracts, municipal government, insurance defense and other issues. Joey brings a rich and well-rounded background to his practice. After earning his undergraduate degree in accounting, he spent almost a decade as an entrepreneur in the downtown Macon, GA restaurant and bar industry. He then obtained a graduate degree and briefly worked in corporate sustainability before ultimately deciding to go to law school. Joeys involvement in handling the many legal issues that occurred in his field inspired him to become an attorney. Prior to joining James Bates, he clerked for Chief Judge Howard Sim and for another Georgia law firm. He also earned a certificate in mediation.
