About

As a Managing Director of the Foundation, Matt Denn plays a lead role in sourcing new investments and working with the leadership of those organizations as an operating partner and board member as they grow to build capacity and to achieve their maximum impact. As a member of the Foundations senior leadership team, Matt also helps to execute the Foundations strategy and goals and contributes to its thought leadership and external outreach. Matt currently serves on the board of DRK grantees All Means All, Accelerator for America, City Bureau, Cultural Brokers, and First Place for Youth. Matt served as the 25th Lieutenant Governor of Delaware from 2009 to 2015, and the 45th Attorney General of Delaware from 2015 until 2019. He also previously served as the Insurance Commissioner of Delaware from 2005 to 2009. As Attorney General, Matt oversaw attorneys who represented all state agencies and boards, prosecuting all criminal and juvenile delinquency cases and enforcing consumer protection, data privacy and other statutes. He worked with the General Assembly to reform the states criminal justice laws, including elimination of the states three strikes minimum mandatory sentencing law, and to promote early intervention and prison re-entry programs. As Lieutenant Governor, Matt helped lead reforms to the states public education programs, including the states efforts to educate students with disabilities. Matt is a graduate from the University of California, Berkeley. He received his JD from Yale Law School. In addition, Matt is an active community advocate appointed Co-Chair of Redding Consortium on Educational Equity, Vice President of Action for Delawares Children and a member of the Governors Advisory Committee on Exceptional Citizens.
