William Alexander Masters

Overview William A. Masters Bill Masters has been practicing law for more than 40 years. His practice has included representing clients in personal injury, labor, and employment cases (including wrongful termination and harassment), as well as insurance defense. There is no shortcut to great lawyering. Great lawyering comes from an innate curiosity for learning about all types of matters, the tenacity to study the law as it evolves, the ability to appreciate client objectives, and the creativity to develop strategies and present a clients case in a manner for success. Prior to joining the firm, much of Bills practice was focused on insurance defense, where he defended clients in matters including motor vehicle accidents, slips and falls, breast implant litigation, first party fire loss cases, third party coverage cases, and complex insurance defense. Bills current practice includes appellate law, employment litigation, personal injury litigation and industrial insurance defense. Much of his practice concerns medical and psychological issues, including epidemiology. He is the author of numerous articles concerning various aspects of the law, and has been asked to speak before Trial Advocacy and other groups. Bill is a fourth generation Portland lawyer; his familys legal roots in Portland extend back to 1885. Bill is an avid reader (particularly English and American literature and 20th century analytic philosophy). He also enjoys sports and geology. Bill and his wife have a son.
