A. in 2001, Erins practice has concentrated on defense of physicians, hospitals, nurses, physician assistants, long term care facilities and all aspects of medical malpractice, physician and hospital liability, nursing home & extended care liability, healthcare law, and credentialing. She has extensive trial experience, having tried more than 65 medical malpractice and long term care jury trials throughout Ohio. Dec 19, 2024, Defense Verdict Cuyahoga County Court of Common Pleas Secured a unanimous defense verdict in favor of an emergency medicine doctor. The case involved a 17-year-old patient with Down Syndrome who passed away after presenting to the ER with respiratory difficulties and behavioral changes. The plaintiff claimed negligence in providing life saving supportive care and ventilation, attributing the patients death to anoxic brain injury rather than pneumonia, ARDS, and sepsis. After a 10-day trial, the jury returned a unanimous verdict in favor of our client. Oct 16, 2024, Defense Verdict Mahoning County Court, Ohio Obtained defense verdict in favor of a radiologist in a case involving an alleged negligent interpretation of a chest CT scan. Oct 7, 2024, Defense Verdict Lorain County Court, Ohio Secured a defense verdict for an OB/GYN in a case involving multiple claims of medical negligence, lack of informed consent, battery, and punitive damages. Aug 15, 2024, Motion for Summary Judgment Granted Lorain County Court, Ohio Motion for summary judgment granted in a slip and fall case at a medical facility. Dec 1, 2023, Defense Verdict Cuyahoga County Court of Common Pleas Obtained defense verdict in favor of urologist. Plaintiff alleged that defendant was negligent during penile implant surgery. Jun 29, 2023, Defense Verdict Cuyahoga County Court of Common Pleas Obtained a defense verdict for their home health nurse and hospital clients. Plaintiffs claimed that our client was negligent during a suprapubic catheter change which allegedly led to a bowel perforation and the need for surgery including colostomy and hospital stay. After a week and a half of trial, the jury returned a defense verdict on negligence in favor of our clients. During litigation, plaintiff failed to adequately respond to discovery requests and failed to comply with the Courts order compelling adequate responses to discovery. Feb 2, 2023, Motion for Summary Judgment Granted Cuyahoga County Court of Common Pleas Plaintiffs filed (1) false imprisonment, (2) premises liability, (3) negligent hiring, (4) negligent infliction of emotional distress, (5) intentional infliction of emotional distress, (6) vicarious liability, (7) respondeat superior, (8) agency by estoppel, and (9) loss of consortium claims against hospital and emergency medicine physician based on allegations that the patient plaintiff was mistreated during his time at the emergency department. Summary Judgment granted in favor of emergency medicine physician on the basis that all claims alleged failed as a matter of law. Oct 21, 2022, Defense Verdict Cuyahoga County Court of Common Pleas Defense of nurse defendant against medical negligence claim involving administration of sodium bicarbonate and calcium gluconate infusions.
