About
Ava OBrien grew up in Brooks, GA; graduated from Griffin High School, and was high school friends and neighbors with Jordan Jewkes. Avas journey to a career in law is vastly different than Jordans. Ava graduated in 2002 from Georgia State University with a masters degree in Molecular Biology, specifically molecular genetics. She then enjoyed a fifteen-year career in the laboratories of places such as Emory, CDC, and Piedmont. Additionally, Ava OBrien is certified with the American Board of Histocompatibility & Immunogenetics (ABHI) and specialized in DNA testing techniques. My goal is to use my experience and expertise to help good people overcome their legal challenges. However, in February 2016, Ms. OBrien served jury duty. As a juror, she was both horrified and inspired by the events she saw. Three months later, Ava quit her job to pursue law school. In January 2017, Ava enrolled in Atlantas John Marshall Law School. She became a J. D. graduate in May 2019 and passed the State Bar of Georgia exam the same year. Since that experience in 2016, Avas desire is to help regular, everyday people navigate the legal judicial system they unwillingly become participants in. Ava interned with the Fulton County Public Defender, Metro Conflict, assisting in the implementation of a statewide forensic resource for Georgia Public Defenders statewide, as well as Henry County Public Defender. While in law school, Ms. OBrien also provided DNA expert services for felony cases such as rape, murder, and aggravated assault throughout Georgia and continues to be a DNA forensic resource to the legal community. Ava OBrien previously worked at The Jewkes Firm prior to beginning law school. After passing the Georgia bar exam, she returned knowing that there was no attorney more honest and hardworking than Jordan Jewkes. Ms. OBrien is honored to be mentored by the best and shares the same passion for helping our family, friends, and community when they are unable to themselves.
