Hon. Maurisa Gates

Maurisa R. Gates is a judge serving Position 25 of the Oregon 4th Judicial District Circuit Court, having assumed office on February 22, 2022. Prior to her judicial appointment, Gates dedicated over 25 years to public defense, serving as a senior attorney in the Metropolitan Public Defender office. She has been actively involved in equity, diversity, and inclusion initiatives within the Multnomah Bar Association, contributed to educational programs at Portland State University and the Oregon Criminal Defense Lawyers Association, and served on the board of the National Juvenile Defender Center. Gates also volunteered as a pro tem judge with the Multnomah County Family Law Judicial Settlement Program.
