Hon. Tim Barnes

Tim Barnes is a judge serving on the Montgomery County General Sessions Court in Tennessee, where he also has jurisdiction over the Montgomery County Juvenile Court. A former Democratic member of the Tennessee State Senate representing District 22 from 2008 until his defeat in 2012, Barnes was re-elected to the bench in 2014 for a term expiring August 31, 2022. He earned his undergraduate degree from Harding University and his J.D. from the University of Arkansas School of Law, and has practiced law prior to his judicial appointment. Barnes resides in Adams, Tennessee, and has served on several legislative committees, including Judiciary, Transportation, Environment, Conservation and Tourism, and Government Operations.
