Hon. John R. Chavez

John R. Chavez is a judge on the Valencia County Magistrate Court in New Mexico. He was appointed by Governor Susana Martinez in January 2014 and subsequently elected to the court in 2014 for a term expiring December 31, 2018. Chavez holds a B.A. from New Mexico State University, an M.A. from Webster University, and an M.S.S. from the U.S. Army War College. He retired as a U.S. Army Colonel in November 2013 after more than 20 years of service. His career has included judicial service and military leadership.
