Hon. Bernard J. Schwartz

Bernard Schwartz has served as a judge of the Superior Court of Riverside County, California, since his appointment by Governor Gray Davis in 2003. A graduate of the University of Alberta (Bachelor’s degree) and the University of the Pacific, McGeorge School of Law (J.D.), Mr. Schwartz brought a wealth of legal experience to the bench, having previously worked as a deputy public defender for Riverside County and as an attorney with the firm of Johnston and Schwartz. He also served as a commissioner for the Riverside County Superior Court for three years before his judicial appointment. Mr. Schwartz has been re-elected in 2012, 2018, and 2024, underscoring the confidence placed in him by the community and the legal profession.
