Scott L. Ballard is a Superior Court Judge for the Griffin Judicial Circuit, which includes Fayette, Spalding, Pike, and Upson Counties. He earned his high school diploma from Fayette County High School in 1977 and later attended the University of Georgia and Florida State University College of Law. After graduating from law school in 1984, he joined Ballard Law Office, where he practiced law for nearly two decades until 2004. During his tenure at Ballard Law Office, Scott developed a reputation as a skilled criminal defense attorney and civil litigator. In 2004, he was elected District Attorney for the Griffin Judicial Circuit after serving as an elected official in various capacities within the circuit, including as a partner at Ballard Law Office from 1984 to 2004. He later transitioned into public service as a Superior Court Judge in 2017. Scott has handled several high-profile cases that garnered international attention and has been recognized for his legal expertise.
