Judge Katherine K. Lumsden has served the Houston County Superior Court since her appointment in January 2007, following a decade-long career as a prosecutor in the Houston Judicial Circuit, including five years as Chief Assistant District Attorney. She presides over the Houston Mental Health Accountability Court and the Day Reporting Center substance abuse recovery program, and she actively participates on the Georgia Commission on Family Violence and the Board of Trustees for the Institute of Continuing Judicial Education. A graduate of Florida State University (B.A., 1993) and Mercer University School of Law (J.D., 1996), Judge Lumsden is a member of the Georgia State Bar and has been re-elected to the bench three times without opposition.
