Hon. Catherine Cholakis

Catherine "Kiki" Cholakis is a judge on the Rensselaer County Family Court in New York, having been elected to the position in 2003 and serving until her term expires in 2022. She also serves as an acting justice of the Rensselaer County Supreme Court. Prior to her family court appointment, Cholakis served as town justice for East Greenbush, first elected in 1995 and re-elected twice. She holds a B.S. from Ithaca College (1985) and a J.D. from Albany Law School (1989). In 2012, she successfully defended her seat against Amy H. O'Connor, winning 55.87% of the vote. She ran for a seat on the New York Supreme Court 3rd Judicial District in 2011 but was narrowly defeated. Her practice areas include family law and general jurisdiction matters.
