Hon. J. Kevin Chason

Judge J. Kevin Chason, born on August 15, 1962, in Grady County, Georgia, has had a distinguished career in law and public service. He began his legal career practicing law in Cairo, GA, from 1950 onwards. His professional journey included serving as Solicitor for the City Court of Grady County from 1959 to 1966 and later as County Attorney for Grady County from 1960 to 1977 and again from 1981 to 1982. He also served as a Judge of the Superior Courts for the South Georgia Judicial Circuit from 1982 to 1996, becoming a Senior Judge in 1997. In 1997, he was appointed as Judge of the Superior Court of the South Georgia Judicial Circuit by Governor George Busbee and served until his retirement in 2022. He transitioned into leadership roles within the judicial system, including being elected as Superior Court Judge in 2008 and becoming Chief Judge in 2017. His tenure as Chief Judge lasted until 2022 when he retired. In addition to his judicial roles, he has held numerous community positions, including serving on the Board of Directors for the Grady Chapter of the American Heart Association, the Bainbridge College Foundation, and the Administrative Board of the First United Methodist Church of Cairo. He has also been a member of the Cairo and Grady County Chamber of Commerce and the past president of the Georgia Association of County Attorneys. Judge Chason is recognized for his contributions to community service and leadership, which have significantly impacted the legal and judicial communities in his area. His professional achievements include being designated by the Georgia Supreme Court to hear a case in 2018, highlighting his continued influence and expertise in legal matters.
