Judge Robert W. Chasteen, Jr. is a distinguished legal professional who has served the state of Georgia in multiple capacities. He was elected as a Superior Court Judge for the Cordele Judicial Circuit in 2004 and re-elected in 2008, overseeing cases in Ben Hill, Wilcox, Crisp, and Dooly counties. Prior to his tenure on the Superior Court, he served as a Municipal Court Judge in Ben Hill County from 2000 to 2004. Judge Chasteen’s legal career spans over three decades, during which he was a partner at Mills & Chasteen, P.C. from 1969 to 2004 and served as the county attorney for Ben Hill County for 35 years. He also held the prestigious position of President of the State Bar of Georgia from 1995 to 1996. His judicial excellence was recognized with the 2022-2023 Justice Thomas O. Marshall Professionalism Award.
