Hon. John Flythe

Chief Judge John Flythe has had a distinguished career in the Georgia judiciary. He began his legal career as an Assistant District Attorney in the Augusta Judicial Circuit from 1999 to 2001. After a period in private practice, he served as a Municipal Court Judge in Grovetown from 2006 to 2010. Governor Sonny Perdue appointed him as a State Court Judge in Richmond County, a position he held from 2010 to 2016. In 2017, he was elected to the Superior Court of the Augusta Judicial Circuit, and he became its Chief Judge in 2018. That same year, he was designated to hear a case at the Georgia Supreme Court. He also served on the Georgia Commission on Family Violence from 2010 to 2015. Flythe earned a Bachelor’s Degree in History from the University of Georgia and a Juris Doctor from the University of Georgia School of Law.
