He was appointed by former Governor <a href="/Charlie_Crist" title="Charlie Crist">Charlie Crist</a> on <a href="/C2009#December" class="mw-redirect" title="C2009">December 8, 2009</a> and took office in <a href="/C2010#January" class="mw-redirect" title="C2010">January</a>. He succeeded retired Judge <a href="/Robert_B._Carney" title="Robert B. Carney">Robert B. Carney</a>.
