Joel E. Tingey is a judge serving the Seventh Judicial District of Idaho. He was appointed to the court in July 2007 by Governor Butch Otter and has been re-elected twice, first in 2010 (unopposed) and again in 2014, with his most recent term set to expire in January 2019. Prior to his judicial service, Tingey practiced law from 1988 to 2007 as an attorney with Anderson Nelson Hall Smith. He earned both his bachelor's degree and Juris Doctor from Brigham Young University in 1980 and 1983, respectively.
