Hon. Amy G. Mead

Amy Mead is a judge of the Alaska First District Superior Court, appointed in 2018 by former Governor Bill Walker. She earned a bachelor's degree in psychology from Boston University in 1989 and a J.D. from Tulane University Law School in 1996. Mead began her legal career as a law clerk for Thomas M. Jahnke (1996-1997) before serving as an Assistant District Attorney in the Alaska Department of Law’s Criminal Division (1997-1998). She later worked as an Assistant Attorney General in the Civil Division’s Human Services Section (2000-2001) and spent over a decade as a senior associate at Hoffman & Blasco LLC (1998-2010). From 2010 until her appointment to the bench, she served as Assistant Municipal Attorney and then Municipal Attorney for the City of Juneau. Her experience spans criminal, civil, human services, and municipal law, and she has been presiding over cases in the Alaska First District Superior Court since August 21, 2018.
