Ramirez received a B.B.A. (Bachelor of Business Administration) from St Mary's University School of Business and an M.B.A. (Masters in Business Administration) from Texas A&M Graduate School of Business. He went on to earn his J.D. from Southern Methodist University.[3]

Prior to his judicial appointment in 2010, Ramirez was an attorney in private practice.[3]
